From time immemorial, the idea of honouring people by naming places from continents, nations and their vast monuments including universities, streets and other things after them has been the basic component of the civilized advancement and our most profound human heritage.
This is called IMMORTALISM, a branch of study of Celebrology ( Celebrology simply means the scientific study of honour).
The vast continents of America was named after the Italian explorer Americus (Amerigo Vespucci). Nations like Tasmania was named after Abel Tasman, a Dutch explorer; Colombia was named after the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus; Philippines was named after King Philip II of Spain. Harvard University was named after John Harvard (In U.S) Obafemi Awolowo University ( In Nigeria) was named after Obafemi Awolowo. The moves made in Nigeria to name the University of Lagos (UNILAG) after MKO Abiola, University of Maduguri after President Muhammadu Buhari were rejected and considered an aberration! The ongoing immortalistic revolution in Lagos State itself seems rife with controversies, so it is in Africa and across the world which all call for their very celebrological investigation, thus offering LAW its invitation by asking: What is the place of law in Immortalism?
Diving into CELEBRATION, another area of study of Celebrology, a global intellectual revolution is ongoing as Celebrology digs deep to explore its forms : festivals, carnivals, activals and parties; cross-examining in its classifications, from diplomatic celebrations, cultural celebrations, religious celebration to patriotic celebrations, Celebrology offers LAW its invitation again by asking where is the place of LAW in celebration?
