As Sola Odumosu, the Father of Celebrology, advances in his intellectual breakthrough on Celebrology ( the scientific study of honour), indeed a new thinking revolution in the world, an academic field of study which he created for global universities, two areas of the discipline earnestly contend for our attention, prompting a negotiative encounter. These are “Immortalism” and “Celebration”, which are branches of study of Celebrology. While these are in battle of intellectual supremacy with each other, they do not in any way lose their respect for each other.

Immortalism, otherwise known as the heavyweight champion of Celebrology, is a celebrological principle in practice, which deals with honouring people by naming things after them and also the circumstantial emergence of things in accordance with honour in establishing an epoch of memory. It is a branch of study of Celebrology which today is rife with its own challenges especially on the issue of naming and renaming of universities, colleges, monuments and places after people.
The question is, where is the place of law in immortalism? Is it lawful to immortalise people or is immortalism a thing of natural evolution or emergence in the people’s memory, which must not in anyway be erased by law?

Celebration otherwise known as the heartbeat of Celebrology, is another branch of study of Celebrology which deals with activities of fun. Perhaps its area of study noted for its intellectual exploits, existing in types, kinds and forms and greatly venerated for its many phenomena, still earnestly contends with itself asking for its legal probe. Is it lawful to celebrate? Or is celebration merely a thing of dignity, not necessarily requiring the intervention of law? Do certain celebrations require lawful proceedings or being signed into law? Where is the place of law in celebration?

These all form the basis of discussion at the Celebrology International Legal Conference 2025.
